UoVT opens degree applications for 2025/2026 intake

The University of Vocational Technology has opened applications for its 2025/2026 intake, inviting qualified Advanced Level students and holders of National Vocational Qualifications to apply for its industry-focused bachelor’s degree programs.

Applications will be accepted only through the official UoVT online portal, with deadline of February 18, 2026.

UoVT, Sri Lanka’s premier state university specializing in vocational and technological education, offers degree programs aligned with national skills frameworks and designed to meet industry demand.

Eligibility

Applicants are eligible if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Passed the 2024 GCE Advanced Level examination with three S passes, or
  • Hold an NVQ Level 5 or Level 6 qualification, or
  • Possess an equivalent qualification accepted by the university.

UoVT offers bachelor’s degrees across four faculties:

Faculty of Information Technology

  • Computer Networks and Cloud Security
  • Software and Intelligent Systems
  • Web and Creative Media

Faculty of Engineering Technology

  • Building Services Technology
  • Construction Technology
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Mechatronics Technology

Faculty of Education

  • English Language Teaching

Faculty of Industrial Technology

  • Food Process Technology
  • Industrial Management Technology
  • Film and Television Production
  • Media Arts Production
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Hotel Management

Duration and qualifications

Programs are offered in two formats:

  • Three-year Bachelor of Technology, equivalent to NVQ Level 7, and
  • Four-year Bachelor Honours Degree, aligned with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF).

Industry-focused learning

The university said its programs emphasize employability through a blend of theoretical instruction, laboratory work and industry training, with options for weekday and weekend study modes. Degrees awarded by UoVT are state-recognized and aligned with both NVQ and SLQF frameworks.

Entrance examination

All applicants are required to sit for the UoVT Aptitude Test. Details regarding examination dates, admission cards and test centers will be released after the application deadline via the official online portal.
