The SLT-MOBITEL Nebula Institute of Technology, formerly the Sri Lanka Telecom Training Centre, has rapidly emerged as a premier educational institute, empowering professionals through cutting-edge training and higher education. With a rich history spanning over half a century, Nebula Institute of Technology’s primary goal was to develop the human resources of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC. Through dedicated efforts, Nebula Institute of Technology played a pivotal role in shaping the Sri Lanka Telecom PLC into a premier integrated communications service provideras well as the leading broadband and infrastructure services provider in the country.

The journey began in 1973 with the formation of a training center in Moratuwa, followed by additional facilities in Kandy and Welisara, with the latter serving as the flagship training facility.

In 2004, Nebula Institute of Technology extended its services to external parties through acollaboration with City & Guilds, providing an avenue for comprehensive skill development. Subsequently, in 2005, the Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical and Electronics was introduced in affiliation with Pearson UK. The program opened doors for students who completed their HND to pursue engineering degrees at the prestigious University of Hertfordshire, UK. Nebula currently provides three- year degree programs, including BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, BSc(Hons) in Data Science. These programs are offered in affiliation with the University of Hertfordshire UK.

SLT-MOBITEL Nebula Institute of Technology has also obtained approval from the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC). The Institute is the sole authorized center in the country, offering a pathway to secure the NVQ Level 6 equivalence for BTEC Level 5 HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Additionally, Nebula Institute of Technology has affiliation with the REDHAT Academy EC-Council, the world’s largest cyber security technical certification bodies. Sri Lanka’s largest education exhibition & job fair EDEX Expo 2025 will be held on the 17th,18th& 19th of January at the BMICH Colombo & on the 25th& 26th of January 2025 at the Kandy City Centre Kandy. This year 2025 EDEX expo will be the 21st year of EDEX since its inception.
