It has been a year since the students of the British School in Colombo (BSC) came together to celebrate World Reading Day in a truly meaningful way. United by their love for books and a spirit of giving, BSC students organised a special initiative to collect both new and used books, aiming to share the joy of reading with children across Sri Lanka.
The books collected during this campaign were later donated by Mr. Tilak, Mr. Warren, Mr. Chaminda, and several dedicated members of staff to schools in different parts of the island.
These donations reached the schools: Namagal Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, Naula, Nikawatawana Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, Kandalama and Hombawa Maha Vidyalaya, Galewela, where they also received a wooden cupboard for their library to support their growing collection of books.
This initiative continues to remind the BSC community of the power of compassion and collaboration. A year on, the impact of this simple yet heartfelt act of sharing still resonates, encouraging students to keep reading, keep giving, and keep inspiring others!
