
Attorney-at-Law Manoj Nanayakkara has been appointed as the new Chief Scout Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association.
The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in terms of the provisions of the Scouts Ordinance No. 13 of 1957.
The letter of appointment was handed over to him yesterday (13) at the Presidential Secretariat by the Secretary to the President, Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
Mr Nanayakkara joined the 1st Homagama Scout Troop of Christ the King College, Pannipitiya, in 1989 as a Cub Scout. He has since served as a District Commissioner, Chairman of the District Scout Training Board and as Legal Adviser to the Chief Scout Commissioner.
He has conducted many major national Scout programmes and has rendered outstanding service to the Sri Lankan Scout Movement as a member of the organising committee of the National Jamboree and as a member of the National Organising Committee of the National Cubboree.
