Manipal University College Malaysia’s MBBS Program – SLMC Approved

Applications for Sri Lankan students are accepted for March/October 2026 Intakes

On the 13th of February 2026, a special press conference was held at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Colombo, hosted by the official delegation from Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) to formally announce the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) accreditation of the MBBS programme offered by MUCM.

This recognition affirms the academic quality, clinical training standards, andcurriculum framework of MUCM’s MBBS programme, aligning it with internationalmedical education benchmarks and the requirements set by the Sri Lanka MedicalCouncil.

The announcement was formally made by the higher management & academic heads of the university, who were,

  • Dr. Arun Kumar, Chairman of MUCM/ Director of Manipal Group in Malaysia.
  • Dr. Prof. Jayakumar Gurusamy, Vice Chancellor of MUCM.
  • Mr. Gaurav Rekhi, Chief Operating Officer – Manipal International Campuses, Dubai & Malaysia
  • Mr. Niranjan Jayakumar, Chief Executive Officer – Manipal Middle East Africa and Senior Vice President at Manipal Global Education Services, Middle East and Africa.
  • Mr. Asghar Hussain, Director of International Admissions at MUCM.

The first 35 Sri Lankan students will be offered an exclusive tuition fee reduction of USD 40,000 on the total programme fee a remarkable opportunity for aspiring medical students to pursue their MBBS at a globally recognized institution.

In addition, MUCM’s Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme, fully approved by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC), continues to provide students with exceptional clinical training.
