
Sri Lankan students achieved outstanding success at the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO 2025), held in Malaysia recently. The competition brought together young prodigies from around the world to test their skills and creativity in science and mathematics.
After a series of competitive selections at school, zonal, provincial, and national levels, 24 students were chosen to represent Sri Lanka, 12 in the Science Division and 12 in the Mathematics Division. Their collective performance brought great pride to the nation.
In the Science Division, four students distinguished themselves by winning Silver Medals:
The remaining eight students in the Science category earned Bronze Medals.
Among the 12 students who represented the Mathematics Division, seven competitors secured Bronze Medals.
Meanwhile, in the STEM Team Competition, Sri Lanka achieved an impressive 4th place among all participating countries, a remarkable milestone of the country’s growing prominence in global STEM education.
These achievements stand as a testament to the students’ dedication, the support of their teachers, and the continuous efforts to uplift science and mathematics education in Sri Lanka.
