
The Diploma in Counseling Psychology offered by the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRA), University of Colombo, is tailored for students to gain knowledge and skills, required for career development in the field of counseling.
The course encompasses both theoretical and practical aspects of counseling while also providing a special focus on ethical considerations in the field. You can engage in active learning through lectures, discussions, case studies, and practical exercises.
The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and abilities they need to become skilled counselors who can successfully treat psychological problems and positively impact people’s lives.
Applicants must satisfy the requirements in paragraph (1), (2) and (3):
1. (a) Should pass the GCE (A/L) Examination in four (4) subjects under the old syllabus
OR
(b) Should pass the GCE (A/L) Examination in three (3) subjects under the new syllabus
OR
(c) Should possess a certificate of a Foundation Program equivalent to the GCE (A/L)
OR
(d) Should pass the GCE (O/L) Examination with accredited work experience or accredited prior learning followed by a relevant programme of study equivalent to a minimum of 30 credits.
2. Should demonstrate competence in the relevant field and potential for future career development;
AND
3. Should have a good working knowledge of the language of instruction of the Diploma program.
