India hosts leadership and entrepreneurship workshop for Sri Lankan youth

A delegation of 28 minority youths from diverse backgrounds across Sri Lanka successfully completed a specialised five day capacity building programme on “Innovative Leadership for Organization Growth and Excellence” (ILOGE) in Noida, India. Held from September 21 to 25 at the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), the initiative forms part of India’s commitment to offer 700 customised training slots annually to Sri Lankan professionals and youth, following a pledge made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his State Visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025.

Organised under India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the course was designed to strengthen participants’ leadership capacities and equip them with practical approaches to organisational growth, entrepreneurship and local economic development. The curriculum covered key topics, including self leadership, design thinking, climate leadership, coaching and mentoring, emotional intelligence and community resilience. As a core output, participants developed individual Back Home Action Plans to apply their new skills within their respective organisations and local communities upon returning to Sri Lanka.

In addition to classroom instruction, the delegation participated in a cultural immersion study tour to Agra, visiting iconic landmarks including the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The visit facilitated cross cultural exchange and provided informal networking opportunities among the young leaders.

The initiative underscores India’s ongoing bilateral assistance to enhance skill development and human resource capabilities across Sri Lanka’s diverse regional communities. (Eduwire)
