The Inter-House Football Tournament 2026 at Horizon College International was held with great enthusiasm, bringing together the four houses, Athena, Apollo, Hermes, and Zeus in a spirited celebration of football, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Conducted in the Under 15 and Over 15 categories, the tournament provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their talent, determination, discipline, and passion for the game.

The event commenced with the arrival of the Principal, Mrs.Maryanne Hills and the school management team, who were warmly welcomed by the school community. The Games Captain delivered the welcome address, setting an inspiring tone for the day. The finalists then assembled in front of the VIP Pavilion, followed by the Horizon College International School Song, before the much-anticipated finals began.

The tournament featured a series of exciting and competitive matches, with players displaying impressive football skills, teamwork, discipline, and determination. The enthusiastic support from fellow students added to the vibrant atmosphere throughout the competition. After a closely contested tournament, Apollo emerged as the Under 15 Champions, while Hermes secured the Over 15 Championship. Athena and Zeus also demonstrated commendable performances, contributing to the highly competitive nature of the tournament.

The prize-giving ceremony recognized the achievements of both teams and individual players. In the Under 15 category, Sanuka Abanpitiya of Athena was awarded the Best Goalkeeper title, while Yoshith Yasawardhana of Apollo was named the Most Valuable Player. In the Over 15 category, Januga Welagedara of Hermes received the Best Goalkeeper award, while Thesath Dharmapriya of Hermes was recognized as the Most Valuable Player.

Certificates and medals were presented to the successful teams in both categories, celebrating their outstanding performances and commitment. The Principal addressed the gathering by congratulating the participants and emphasizing the importance of sports in developing confidence, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and a positive competitive spirit.

The Football Captain delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere appreciation to the school management, organizers, coaches, referees, staff, and students for their valuable contributions towards the successful completion of the tournament. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
