HCI Excels at National Age Group Swimming Championship 2026

Horizon College International (HCI) swimmers delivered an impressive performance
at the National Age Group Swimming Championship 2026, held recently at the
Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool. Competing against some of the best young
athletes in the country, HCI swimmers showcased determination, discipline, and
exceptional skill in the pool, bringing pride to all of us.


The highlight of the championship was the outstanding achievement of Sandini
Nihinsa, who was crowned the Under 11 Girls Champion with a total of 16 points.
She secured:
 50m Backstroke – Gold Medal
 100m Backstroke – Gold Medal
 200m Freestyle – Silver Medal
 100m Freestyle – Silver Medal
Her versatility and dominance across multiple disciplines established her as one of
the most promising young swimmers of the meet and a true asset to HCI.
In the same age category, Yashasvi Ekanayake delivered a commendable
performance, winning:
 100m Butterfly – Silver Medal
 50m Butterfly – Silver Medal
 50m Freestyle – Silver Medal
 4 th Place – 100m Freestyle
Other top 8 finishes:
Gisheni Lizari, Under 17 Girls category, achieved multiple top finishes:
 4 th Place – 400m Individual Medley
 4 th Place – 1500m Freestyle
 5 th Place – 200m Butterfly
 6 th Place – 800m Freestyle
 7 th Place – 200m Individual Medley
Minuthi Dissanakaye, Under 15 Girls category, secured:
 6 th Place – 100m Breaststroke
 7 th Place – 200m Breaststroke
Sithaga Liyanawaduge, Under 15 Boys category, placed:
 8 th Place – 800m Freestyle

These achievements underscore the dedication, hard work, and competitive spirit of
HCI swimmers. With such performances, HCI continues to celebrate its success and
looks forward to even greater achievements ahead.
