Empowering Youth: EDEX 365 Inspires Through Year-Round Initiatives

The EDEX 365 Activities Team, through its sub-brands Sithuwam, Think Green, Entrepreneur, and Nanapahana, is committed to “Empowering Sri Lankan Youth to be Globally Competitive.” These efforts extend beyond the annual EDEX Expo, ensuring continuous engagement with young minds nationwide.

Transforming Buththala Schools with Books
In December 2024, the team conducted a CSR initiative in Buththala, donating books worth LKR 4 million to 26 schools in the region. Held at the Buththala Divisional Secretariat, the event brought together key figures, including EDEX Chairman Mahinda Galagedara, regional education officials, and local school principals. The first-of-its-kind initiative allowed schools to select books tailored to their needs, significantly benefiting students and educators.

Additionally, senior students explored entrepreneurial opportunities during industrial visits. Entrepreneurs from the Buththala Industrial Zone shared success stories, showcasing how the area’s unique geography supports innovation. Representatives from UvaWellassa University further enriched the event by discussing future educational and career paths.

Exciting EDEX Expo 2025 Activities
Looking ahead to EDEX Expo 2025, the team is organizing vibrant edutainment activities, including live visual arts demonstrations, STEM education showcases, and skills competitions. Sithuwam’s annual art competition now features an AI-assisted category, empowering students to adapt to global demands. This initiative is supported by the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, which will also host workshops and provide creative hands-on experiences like sculpture making and fabric arts.

Fostering Green Thinking and Entrepreneurship
Think Green will demonstrate the urban green tower concept to promote environmental awareness, while Entrepreneur will partner with key institutions to nurture Sri Lanka’s entrepreneurial talent.

A key highlight at the EDEX Expo ‘20 will take place on January 18th, with an awards ceremony celebrating the winners of the EDEX Sithuwam art competition, while also honoring participants from the Faculty of Visual Arts for their exceptional talent and dedication. EDEX’s unwavering commitment to empowering youth is a testament to its vision of a brighter, more globally competitive future for Sri Lanka.
