The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education will introduce new education reforms for Sri Lankan preschools starting next year, according to Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa.
Speaking at a programme held on October 5, Kaluwewa emphasized that these reforms will bring all preschools across the country under a single, unified curriculum. Under the new framework, individual preschools will no longer be permitted to teach varied content or use separate educational approaches and methods.
Highlighting the need to establish a proper educational framework for the nation’s future leaders, Kaluwewa stated that the reforms serve as a fresh beginning for early childhood education.
He noted that the Ministry holds primary responsibility for the country’s human resource development and is currently executing a comprehensive programme to evaluate and modernize systems across all levels including preschool, primary and secondary education to align with the modern era. (Eduwire)
