Students from Pinnawala Central College and Matale Siri Seevali College visited the Presidential Secretariat on September 24 to mark the completion of two years of the ‘Vision’ Programme.

The joint initiative launched for schoolchildren by the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Education and the Department of Communication of the Parliament of Sri Lanka aims to provide students with firsthand exposure to the country’s governance and history.

During the visit, students toured the historic former Parliament building at the Presidential Secretariat and received a briefing on the history of the Sri Lankan Parliament.

Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage addressed the gathering, explaining the function of the President’s Fund and its direct benefits to schoolchildren.

To commemorate the milestone, participating schools received copies of the ‘Vision’ commemorative book, which details the programme’s two-year progress and key activities. As a symbolic gesture highlighting environmental conservation, officials also presented valuable plants to the schools.

The event was attended by Director General of Public Relations Dharmasiri Gamage, the Director and Assistant Director of the Tri-Services Security Coordination Unit, alongside the principals, teaching staff and students of both participating colleges. (Eduwire)
