Horizon College International (HCI) commenced the 2026/27 Academic Year with a warm and memorable welcome to its newest members of the Horizon family. On 9th September, the school welcomed many new students and parents, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

The programme was designed to provide new students and parents with an introduction to the HCI community and to create a positive and reassuring start to their journey at the school. For many of the new students, the occasion marked their first opportunity to experience the vibrant atmosphere of HCI. From meeting teachers and fellow students to becoming familiar with the school environment, the day provided an encouraging first step towards building a strong connection with their new school.

Mrs. Maryanne Hills, Founder Principal of Horizon College International, warmly welcomed the parents and guests, reflecting on the school’s journey since its establishment and the many milestones and achievements reached over the years. She highlighted that HCI’s commitment to education extends beyond academic success, placing equal importance on character development, cultural values, extracurricular engagement, and the holistic development of every student.

Mr. Upul Daranagama, Chairman of Horizon Group of Companies, further emphasized these key values in his address to the parents, reiterating the school’s commitment to providing a globally benchmarked education while nurturing well-rounded individuals. He highlighted the importance of developing students not only academically, but also equipping them with the knowledge, skills, values, and confidence required to progress successfully in an ever-changing world. He also emphasized HCI’s Edexcel pathway and the wide range of opportunities provided for students to grow beyond the classroom. Mr. Sisira Gunaratne, Principal of the National Curriculum, also addressed the gathering, warmly welcoming the new parents to the HCI family and sharing his commitment to supporting students in their academic and personal development through the National Curriculum pathway.

As the 2026/27 Academic Year unfolds, Horizon College International looks forward to witnessing its newest Horizonites learn, explore, discover and grow. With a supportive community behind them and a wealth of opportunities ahead, the new students are ready to embark on an exciting journey at HCI.
