South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi Expands Academic Offerings and Opens Admissions for 2025-26

South Asian University (SAU), established with the vision of “Knowledge Without Borders,” has announced the commencement of admissions for the 2025-26 academic session. The announcement was made by Prof. K K Aggarwal, President of SAU, a distinguished pioneer in computer and electronics engineering in India, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to delivering world class education and expanding academic opportunities across the South Asian region.

SAU, established by the eight member nations of SAARC, has long been known for its postgraduate and research programs. After moving to its sprawling 100 acre modern campus, surrounded by lush green cover and in close proximity to the IT hub of Gurugram, the university is undergoing a significant phase of expansion. Until 2022, SAU operated from a temporary premise at Akbar Bhawan, which limited its growth. However, with the move to its new campus, the university has embarked on an ambitious journey of academic and infrastructural development. In 2024-25 academic year, it took a major step forward by introducing B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Building on this momentum, SAU has now launched several new programs for the 2025-26 academic session, further broadening its academic landscape and reinforcing its position as a premier institution in higher education. This year, the university has opened around 1,370 seats for on-campus programs across various disciplines.

A key highlight of this expansion is the introduction of specialized B.Tech. programs designed to meet industry demands. The B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) now offers in demand specializations in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Business Systems & Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Science & AI. Additionally, SAU has launched a B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, a program designed to equip students with advanced computational and analytical skills necessary for emerging technological fields.

For students seeking interdisciplinary education, the university has introduced Integrated Programs, which provide a seamless transition from undergraduate to postgraduate studies. These include the Integrated BS MS in Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Integrated BBA MBA program, both of which are designed to offer students a broad and holistic academic experience.

In alignment with global higher education trends, SAU has also introduced one year Master’s programs for students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. These programs offer an accelerated yet rigorous path to postgraduate education, allowing students to enter the workforce with advanced qualifications in a shorter timeframe. Additionally, SAU has expanded its postgraduate offerings with the introduction of an MBA, an Executive MBA for working professionals, an MCA and MS Climate Change and Sustainability. The university continues to offer M.Tech, MSc (Computer Science), MSc Biotechnology, MA Sociology, MA International Relations, MA Economics, and LLM, ensuring a diverse range of academic opportunities for students across multiple disciplines.

With a strong focus on research and academic excellence, SAU is also strengthening its PhD programs. This year, it has introduced an Executive PhD program, designed specifically for working professionals who wish to pursue advanced research while continuing their careers.

Admissions to various programs will be conducted through SAU’s own entrance test, as well as through recognized national-level eligibility tests across SAARC nations. For example, in India the scores of CUET, JEE mains, CAT etc shall be considered. To enhance accessibility, students from other SAARC countries will have the option to take the test through a secure, proctored online examination, allowing them to participate from their home countries. For Indian students, the university will set up multiple test centers across the country to ensure ease of access. Additionally, admissions for candidates from other SAARC nations shall also be granted based on merit in their qualifying examinations

A major milestone in SAU’s commitment to digital education is the launch of its Virtual Campus, which offers online degree and certificate programs. These programs maintain the same academic rigor, curriculum standards, and faculty expertise as their on campus counterparts, ensuring that quality education reaches a wider audience. The programs offered at SAU virtual Campus include BBA(Hon), BCA(Hons), Integrated BBA-MBA. BCA (Hons), BS and MS (Data Science and AI), MCA, MBA along with certificate courses pertaining to vocal music, Fashion design and Communication design etc

SAU is a melting pot of brilliance, where a world class faculty comprising top scholars and researchers from across the region shapes the minds of future leaders. The university thrives on its rich cultural diversity, bringing together students from all SAARC nations. This unique blend of perspectives, traditions, and ideas creates a dynamic learning environment where innovation meets global understanding, making SAU a truly international hub of academic excellence.
